Breaking ground August 2026
The greatest luxury isn't a bigger house — it's the people you love inside it.
Our family built a life around the water. Now we're building the house that proves it — documenting every material, every trade, and every decision from the dock to the den, alongside the manufacturers who make it possible.
D.01 What we believe
Every dock. Every campfire. Every ski trip.
Every sunset. Every backyard game. Every road trip.
Every ordinary Saturday.
Those become the stories your children tell their children. Our mission is to help families create more of them — starting with our own.
Because you don't leave your legacy someday. You live it today.
D.02 The idea
Dock is morning. Water, motion, guests, music. Den is night. Fire, quiet, the table, the story someone tells for the twentieth time.
Every good day a family remembers travels that line. Most homes — and most trips, and most Saturdays — are planned as a set of logistics and a budget. We design the day first, then work backward to the spaces, systems, and products required to make it happen on purpose instead of by accident.
D.03 Model 001
Drawn, engineered, and permitted. A walkout lakefront home in southern Wisconsin where the standard gets written and every decision gets filmed.
Model 001 is ours. Model 002 onward belong to the families who want the same thing done for theirs.

D.04 The series
Everything we publish answers the same thing: will this help your family spend better time together? If we wouldn't spend our own money on it again, we'll say so.
The complete construction of Model 001 — every material decision, every trade interview, every mistake we'd never make twice. Ground-breaking through the one-year review.
Begins August 2026Every family trip becomes research. Resorts, marinas, ski towns, and lake towns — reviewed the only way that matters: would we send our closest friends?
Not "top ten" lists. We bought it, used it through Wisconsin seasons, and came back six months later with the truth — including what broke.
Long-term reviewsLake Olympics, Fourth of July weekends, winter cabin trips, boathouse nights. We're not reviewing products here. We're reviewing memories — and showing how to build your own.
The heart of itD.05 The standard
The house demonstrates the method. The method is the thing we actually own — and it runs the same whether the property is a lake house, a ranch, or a cabin someone's grandfather built in 1954.
What life should happen here over the next twenty years?
Which memories have to be repeatable, not one-time?
Dock, boathouse, table, hearth, recovery, play, sleep, gear.
Light, sound, climate, water, storage, power, security.
The named manufacturer for every zone and every system.
Every decision filmed. Every tradeoff recorded, including the wrong ones.
What actually happened here, captured and kept.
D.06 The promise
We only recommend products, places, and experiences we'd confidently spend our own money on and send our closest friends to. Partners can buy a category position in our builds. Nobody — at any price — can buy the verdict. If something misses the mark, we'll say so, and the one-year review runs either way. Our goal isn't to promote everything. It's to help families make better decisions with the two things they can't get back: their money and their Saturdays.
— The Cunningham Family · Model 001
Every product we install climbs this ladder — reviewed again at each step, through real Wisconsin seasons. Anyone can review something after one day. Nobody can fake time.
A house is not the outcome.
The outcome is the life that happens in it.
D.07 For manufacturers and trades
A homeowner makes the siding decision once, in a showroom, holding a six-inch sample. They have no idea what it looks like on a real lake elevation in year three after a Wisconsin winter.
We're going to answer that on film — the decision, the install with your technical team on camera, the finished elevation, and the honest review one year later. We're selecting one partner per category, and the envelope decisions lock before framing completes.
One thing that is never for sale: the verdict. Partnership buys category position and access. It does not buy a good review, and the one-year episode runs either way. That constraint is the reason the audience will believe any of it.
D.08 Follow the build
One email when each episode drops, plus the decisions, the specs, and the mistakes as they happen. No noise between.
